Three years after he left India midway through a cricket series due to a"stress-related illness", former England [ Images ] opener Marcus Trescothick [ Images ] will return to the country for the Champions League [ Images ] Twenty20 [ Images ] as part of a 15-member Somerset squad.
"Marcus Trescothick is in the squad as ways are sought to enable the former England opener overcome his problems with travelling abroad to play cricket that he's experienced due to his stress-related illness," Somerset said in a statement.
Trescothick had abruptly left the tour of India in 2006 and was later found to be suffering from depression. He quit international cricket two years later in 2008.
Former Australian opener Justin Langer will lead Somerset, drawn with the Deccan Chargers [ Images ] and Trinidad and Tobago in the group phase of the inaugural event scheduled from October 8 to 23.
Somerset will play its first match against the Deccan Chargers on October 10 in Hyderabad and will later face Trinidad and Tobago on October 12 in Bangalore.
